LANCASTER, Pa.-- For the third straight game,
Austin Finarelli led the Elizabethtown men's basketball team in points as he tallied 20+ points for the fourth time this season. Finarelli and the Blue Jays earned their third win of the season over Lancaster Bible, 80-59.
Finarelli led the game with 22 points while also grabbing five rebounds and four steals. Coming off the bench
Rance Russo totaled 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. In total 13 Blue Jays recorded points in the win.
Elizabethtown came out strong as
Dylan Rowe made a layup within the first 15 second of the half. The two traded points with neither team taking more than a two-point lead until the Chargers tallied five points to take an 11-7 lead. Lancaster Bible then extended their lead by eight
Niko Georgelis would drown a three. Finarelli sunk two 3-pointers within a minute of each other as Etown tied up the game at 20-20. With the help from
Ben Stanton and Rowe, the Blue Jays regained the lead. Elizabethtown started to gain more momentum as Russo put up two layups. With just less than five minutes remaining in the half, Russo made a jumper to bring the lead to seven points.
Alon Gorham and
Tyreke Herbert then brought Etown's lead out by double-digits as they lead, 39-28 with two minutes remaining. Going into halftime, Elizabethtown led, 41-32.
Elizabethtown started the second half with some hot shooting as they went on a 8-0 run. Russo and Finarelli pulled Etown out by 16 points as they led the Chargers, 53-37. Midway through the half, the Blue Jays managed to lead by 20 points as Finarelli made a three followed by a layup. Through the final eight minutes the team would hold a 20+ point lead to win, 80-59.
Elizabethtown returns home this Sunday, December 17th at 2PM as they return to conference play to take on Juniata.
