ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's basketball team dialed up the defense Wednesday at Thompson Gymnasium as they held Lebanon Valley to single digits in each of the first three quarters. The Blue Jays had three in double figures and spread out the scoring as 13 different players recorded points in the 70-42 win over the Dutchmen.
Cyleigh Wilson led all scorers with 11 points.
Coming off two grueling games at Christopher Newport, Elizabethtown (4-1) had the opportunity to rest some legs over the second half of the big win as no starter played more than 23 and a half minutes on Wednesday.
Etown got out to a quick start with a 15-9 first quarter followed up by outscoring Lebanon Valley 22-8 in the second to grab a 37-17 lead by halftime. Mummert had a team-high eight first-half points while
DaniRae Renno added seven and
Allyia Kennedy had six of her career-high 10 points through 20 minutes.
The Jays limited LVC to 3-for-15 shooting over the course of the first quarter (20 percent) and held the Dutchmen to three field goals on 25 percent shooting in the second. Offensively, EC was clicking, hitting on 60 percent of their attempts in the second as they broke open the game. Renno (3-3) and Mummert (4-4) were a combined 7-for-7 at the foul line. Wilson,

Elizabethtown's domination continued into the third quarter. The lead quickly grew as they held Lebanon Valley to just five third-quarter points (2-for-15 shooting).
Taylor Huyck pushed the lead to 25 with her follow up layup off her own miss. Then, Kennedy connected on back-to-back buckets in the paint where Etown had the advantage, 38-20.
Ella Gordon provided the assists on both of Kennedy's third-quarter baskets.
Gordon filled her stat sheet with four points, five boards and four assists.
Cass Peris added four points and four rebounds while
Ellie Fasick also connected on a pair of shots in the lane.
Meg Robbins and
Katie Haefner got in on the scoring action in the fourth quarter for the Jays.
Kamryn Mengel provided a pair of assists plus a steal.
Jess Pronchick and
Ashley Adamson helped Etown preserver their blowout win.
Jessica King had a game-high 11 rebounds, her third game of the season with double-digit rebounds. Wilson connected on three treys for Elizabethtown.
The women's basketball team will have a week off before conference play begins next Wednesday, November 29, when they host Catholic at Thompson for a 7 p.m. Landmark showdown.
