Men's soccer scores in variety of ways, reach 900 program victories on Senior Night

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Left feet, right feet, headers, you name it as the Elizabethtown College men's soccer team celebrated its seniors with a pregame ceremony before going on to defeat Pratt Institute to secure the program's 900th victory. The Blue Jays become only the third men's program to reach the milestone number and the second in Division III (Ohio Wesleyan). Hayden Oldham led Etown with a hat trick and an assist.

"It is quite an honor to be involved with the Elizabethtown College Men's Soccer program's journey of reaching this milestone," Elizabethtown College Men's Soccer Head Coach Skip Roderick said. "More than 500 student-athletes, along with past and present coaches, have all dedicated their sweat and tears on their beloved soccer field and created an incredible Blue Jay Soccer Brotherhood. Nine hundred wins later, our program's motto remains true: 'Your team becomes your family. The ball becomes your best friend. The field becomes your home and the game becomes your life.'"

Oldham started the scoring for Elizabethtown (8-6-2) in the 10th minute with his opening goal, set up by Gavin Domsohn. Oldham returned the favor about six minutes later when he and Nolan Beiter connected to get Domsohn into the box for his first career goal to make it 2-0.

Oldham scored his second of the half before the 20th minute as Aidan Valentine's cross found the junior for the goal.

In the 32nd minute, Hudson Peck hooked in a left-footed corner that went off Valentine's head toward the far post and punched in by Luke Hansen for his first career tally. Valentine then netted his first of two a little over two minutes later and Elizabethtown went into the half ahead 5-0.

Dan Dein's first career assist was the pass for Oldham's hat trick in the 51st minute. Peck got on the scoresheet over 16 minutes after that, curling in a corner kick from the near side that went over everybody's heads and goalie's hands and into the far netting.

Dein added a second assist on Beiter's first career goal, which came in the 72nd minute. Peck's second assist of the game found Valentine's head in the 75th minute and James Abbiss added the final goal of the game in the 77th, his second of the year.

Pedro Miranda played the first half and only needed one save to earn his first career win. Bryce Domsohn and Dom Santaniello split duties in the second half as the three keepers combined for the shutout.

The men's soccer team will host Lycoming in the regular season finale on Saturday, October 28, at 1 p.m.
