ANNVILLE, Pa. -- Two second-half goals helped propel the Elizabethtown College men's soccer team past Lebanon Valley Wednesday afternoon, 3-1. Pedro Guizardi recorded a brace while Jeffrey Bennett provided his second of the season to get the Jays the win.

It was a quick start from Elizabethtown (3-4-2), who scored in the fifth minute on Guizardi's first of the year. Cade Brubaker served in a free kick from 30 yards out that found the sophomore's head in the center of the box. Guizardi's chance tucked itself inside the near post for the goal.

That lead didn't last long, however, as Lebanon Valley (5-5) leveled the match four minutes later. The game went 1-1 into the half.

Bennett returned the lead to the Blue Jays in the 59th minute with his second of the year. Jake Groh fed a ball out toward the right touch line that Ryan Hepler ran onto and served a ball across the face of goal. It got over the defender's head and to Bennett, who had a touch, settled it down, and buried it into the back of the net.

Etown hung on to the 2-1 lead and the defense limited the Dutchmen to only four second-half shots. LVC outshot the Jays 9-8 in the first half.

Guizardi put the game away with a little over ten minutes remaining in regulation with his second of the match to make it 3-1.

Kelvin Del Cid made all three of his saves in the first half and did not need to make another to get his third win of the season.

The men's soccer team will host Juniata on Saturday, October 1, at 1 p.m.
