YORK, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown field hockey team dropped their second consecutive game Wednesday afternoon at No. 16 York (Pa.) in non-conference action. The Spartans defeated the Blue Jays, 5-0.
York was dominate throughout the entirety of the game as they took 34 shots while holding Etown to three. Blue Jays goalkeeper, Rachel Murphey tied a career-high 13 saves in the net. The first quarter saw Elizabethtown's lone penalty corner opportunity. At the 6:20 minute mark following the corner,
Chloe Smith took a shot but it was blocked by a Spartan. Just four minutes later after a rebounded shot, York found the back of the net for their first goal of the game. In the final 30 seconds of the quarter,
Drew Bridges took Etown second shot but it was saved by the Spartan goalkeeper. York was more dominate in the second quarter not allowing a single Etown shot. The Spartans lead, 2-0 five minutes into the quarter.
To start off the third quarter York held possession until
Grace Hardy got off a shot but it was saved. Just minutes after the Blue Jays shot, York tallied their third goal as the ball was played in from the right wing. Just 40 seconds into the fourth quarter, the Spartans took a penalty stroke but Murphy recorded the save. In a four minute span, York scored their final two goals of the game to win, 5-0.
Elizabethtown gets back in to conference action this Saturday, October 1 at 1 PM as they head to Juniata.
