YORK, Pa. -- The Spartans scored twice in the second half while not conceding to the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team as they beat the Blue Jays 2-0 at Graham Field on Saturday.
Trinity Soto had eight saves in the game for Etown.
Though York (Pa.) (4-2) held a 14-3 advantage in shots after the first 45 minutes, it was still 0-0 as the Jays were able to hold the Spartans off the scoreboard.
Elizabethtown (3-3) would fall behind in the 57th minute after a penalty kick was awarded to YCP, which they converted to grab a 1-0 lead. Minutes later, Soto tipped away a shot from Sabrina McGuigan to keep Etown within a goal.
After the Jays went down 2-0 in the 64th minute,
Maddie McWhinney's attempt to get EC back into the game was denied by Jacqueline Keogh in the 79th minute. Keogh had to make a sprawling save to keep the junior's shot out of the goal. Just over a minute later,
Jenna Hoffmann's chance hooked outside the right post. Hoffmann led Etown with four shots in the game.
York did not allow another shot to Elizabethtown over the final 10 minutes and blanked the Blue Jays by a final of 2-0.
Elizabethtown will have the week off before heading to Susquehanna on Saturday, September 24, to kick off Landmark Conference play at 4 p.m.
