Corners Cost Blue Jays in 1-0 Loss at McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md.-- It was a tough game for the Elizabethtown College field hockey team as the Blue Jays took two of their total five shots of game in the first quarter.

The first Blue Jays shot came three minutes into the game just minutes after a penalty corner. Etown's second shot came at the 7:22 minute mark but it was saved by the Green Terror goalkeeper. McDaniel picked up the pace in the second quarter as they took ten shots and scored the lone goal of the game five minutes into the quarter. The Green Terror continued to hold possession of the ball throughout the end of the quarter. McDaniel tried to break through to the net again, but a defensive save by Maeve Keeney and a save from goal keeper, Rachel Murphy put a stop to a second goal.

The Green Terror continued to take control as they only allowed the Blue Jays one corner in the third quarter. The final quarter was slow for both teams but Grace Hussey was able to get off another shot before it was saved by the Green Terror.

Hussey led the team with two shots. Murphy recorded seven saves in goal for the Blue Jays. McDaniel out shot Elizabethtown 19-5 and also had the advantage in corners, 11-4.

Elizabethtown will host Haverford, September 14th at 7 PM.
