Men's Lacrosse Sets Single-Game Record for Goals in Win at Drew

MADISON, N.J. - The Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team ran out to a 19-3 lead at the half, on its way to a record 25 goals in the Blue Jays 25-12 win over Drew Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Etown improves to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in Landmark play, while the Rangers fall to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Junior Riley Langen led the onslaught, finishing with a team-high six points with three goals and three assists. Senior Owen Yake scored five goals for the fourth time this season and for the third time in the team's last four games. Freshman Colin Johnson registered a career-high four points with three goals and one assist.

Junior Craig Wilkie paced the Drew offense with two goals and two assists.

Tied at one with 12:42 remaining in the first quarter, the Blue Jays put their stamp on the game immediately, finishing the first quarter on a 11-1 run to take the 12-2 lead going into the second quarter. Etown rolled the momentum into the second period, outscoring Drew 7-1 for the 19-3 halftime lead. The Blue Jays outshot the Rangers 38-13, collected 29 ground balls and won the face-off battle 18-5 in the first half.

After a scoreless third quarter for Etown, the Blue Jays tallied six more goals in the final period to bring its record-setting total to 25 in the victory. The 25 goals shatters the program's mark of 22 set in 2002 against Misericordia and again in 2019 against Goucher.

Sophomore Brayden Franey (6-4) earned the win, making eight saves in the first half. Freshman Kyle Miller (4) and sophomores Alec Newman (3) and Will Oberle (1) combined for eight saves in the second half.

Senior Anthony Tufaro (0-1) took the loss, making two saves and allowing 15 goals.

Senior Danny Gilbert won 16-21 face-offs and collected a game-high 14 ground balls. Gilbert leads the Landmark in won face-offs (168) and ground balls (105).

Elizabethtown remains on the road on Saturday, April 9 at Catholic. Opening face-off is set for 1 p.m.
