COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team had a lead in game one, but saw it slip away late at Ursinus. The Bears held off the Blue Jays and then finished the sweep in five innings in game two.
Courtney Fitzsimons had two RBIs on the day for Etown.
GAME 1: Ursinus 5, Elizabethtown 3
FItzsimons gave Elizabethtown (8-12) the lead in the second inning with a two-RBI single to right field, scoring
Jenna Davis and
Kristen Aydelotte. They lead 2-1 after two.
Ursinus (11-6) tied it up in the third, but
Ashley Mistichelli gave the Blue Jays the lead back in the fifth with an RBI base knock up the middle.
Emily Polimeni scored on the play and Etown led 3-2.
The Bears plated three runs in the sixth to take back the lead and got the final three outs in the seventh to win game one, 5-3. Fitzsimons and
Kaitlyn Witmer each had two hits apiece.
GAME 2: Ursinus 13, Elizabethtown 0 (F/5)
Ursinus scored a run in the first and second innings and led 2-0 after two. They put up eight in the third to blow open the game.
The Bears limited the Blue Jays to just four hits. After four more runs in the fourth, UC led 13-0 and ended the game in the top of the fifth with the last three outs.
Kadyn Crisswell, Aydelotte,
Cassidy Dodds, and
Grace Hussey had one hit each for Etown in game two.
Elizabethtown is back into Landmark play this weekend with a doubleheader at Susquehanna on Saturday, April 2.
