Dickinson beats softball twice

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Dickinson took two from the Elizabethtown College softball team on Tuesday in non-conference action at The Nest. The Red Devils won game one, 11-5, before beating Etown in game two, 8-6. Kadyn Crisswell hit her fourth home run of the season in game two. Ashley Mistichelli had two hits for the Blue Jays in game one.

Game 1: Dickinson 11, Elizabethtown 5
Dickinson (6-9) got out ahead 2-0 in the first and led 3-0 after the top half of the second. Elizabethtown (8-10) came alive in the bottom half of the inning with four runs. Crisswell triple to right center to clear the bases and tie the game 3-3. Paige Phillips stepped in and knocked home Crisswell with an RBI single up the middle and all of a sudden, the Blue Jays were up 4-3.

The Red Devils got the run back immediately in the third to tie the game at 4-4. They would outscore Etown 7-1 the remainder of game one, scoring twice in the fourth, once in the fifth, and twice more in the sixth and seventh innings.

Mistichelli had a team-high two hits while Crisswell had three RBIs and a run scored.

Game 2: Dickinson 8, Elizabethtown 6
Megan Thomas singled through the right side to bring home Kristen Aydelotte to give Etown an early 1-0 lead. Aydelotte then smacked a two-run double to right center to increase that lead to 3-0 by the third inning.

Dickinson grabbed a run back in the third before tying the game at 3-3 in the fifth.

Crisswell, the reigning Landmark Player of the Week, smashed her fourth home run over the left field fence, a two-run shot to return the lead back to the Blue Jays.

The late innings belonged to the Red Devils, however, as they produced five runs over the sixth and seventh to go up 8-5. Mistichelli hit a sac fly RBI in the seventh, but its the only run Etown would get as the comeback came up short and Dickinson earned the sweep.

Aydelotte, Kaitlyn Witmer, and Crisswell each had two hits in game two for the Jays.

Elizabethtown is scheduled to make up its doubleheader at Ursinus tomorrow, March 30, at 3 and 5 p.m.
