D3HOOPS.COM ALL-REGION 5 TEAMS

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The awards continue to come in for the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team. D3hoops.com announced its all-region selections on Tuesday, and the Blue Jays had both a player and a coach recognized in Region 5. Veronica Christ was selected as a First Team member while head coach Veronica Nolt was named the Region 5 Coach of the Year.

Christ had a superb season for Elizabethtown with career-highs in most offensive categories. She landed the Landmark Conference Player of the Year, a first for the Blue Jays since joining the league in 2014-15. Christ was the team's and the Landmark's top scorer and helped lead the Jays to another postseason berth, 20 wins, and the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance in over 20 years.

Christ was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 5 First Team. It is her second career all-region honor after making the Second Team in 2019-20. She is the first player to earn First Team honors in the region since Taylor Kreider in 2013-14. Christ also becomes the first two-time all-region player for Etown since Kreider in 2012-13 and 2013-14.

After the institution opted out of the 2020-21 season, Nolt's roster for 2021-22 carried 12 of 15 that hadn't played in a college game until early November when the Blue Jays defeated McDaniel in a blowout win in the season opener.

From there, the Blue Jays racked up 20 wins, their most since 2013-14. They also posted a 12-2 record in the Landmark Conference, their best mark since joining the league. The 12 conference victories were the most since the '13-14 season. For Nolt, it was her first career 20-win season with the program.

Etown earned an at-large bid to the Division III Tournament First Round, their first appearance since 2001. Nolt had two all-conference honorees in First Team selection Veronica Christ and Second Team selection Summer McNulty, a freshman. Christ was the Player of the Year and McNulty the conference's Rookie of the Year. Nolt was tabbed the Coach of the Year for the Landmark for the second time.

The D3hoops.com All-Region 5 Coach of the Year is the first for Nolt. She joins Yonnie Kauffman as the only regional coaches of the year for the program. Kauffman was the WBCA Region 4 Coach of the Year in 2011-12.

746 players were nominated for the D3hoops.com All-Region teams. Players chosen as All-Region are eligible for All-America honors. The All-America Team announcement will be made ahead of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship this Saturday, March 19.
