ANNVILLE, Pa. -- Summer McNulty led all scorers with 15 points as three reached double figures for the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team in their 66-44 win at Lebanon Valley on Tuesday.
Jessica King notched her second consecutive double-double in the win as the Blue Jays moved to 4-0 to start the year for the second straight season.
Lebanon Valley (2-3) went ahead 6-0 through the first three minutes of the first quarter, but from there, the Jays held the Dutchmen to just four points the rest of the quarter as they went ahead 15-10 going into the second. LVC led 10-5 with 4:52 remaining in the opening period before a jumper from
Cass Peris started a 10-0 run to close out the first. It was two of Peris' nine points off the bench. McNulty hit two straight baskets that put Elizabethtown (4-0) ahead with 3:10 left, 11-10.
The Dutchmen did manage to tie things up early on in the second at 15-15, but
DaniRae Renno started another 10-0 run for the Blue Jays that McNulty capped off with a jumper in the paint. Etown led 25-15 with 4:58 to play before the half.
Lindsay Boyd, Peris, and McNulty then helped grow that lead to 18 after McNulty's trey with 1:32 remaining in the second. They led 35-17 at the half.
All 10 of King's points came in the second half on 5-for-9 shooting as Elizabethtown dominated the boards once again. The Jays were plus-eight in the first half and plus-seven in the second half. Renno and King combined to grab 12 rebounds, almost half of the team's total over the third and fourth quarters. King finished the night with 11 rebounds, the second straight game for the junior with 11 boards.
King had the first two baskets of the fourth quarter for Etown as the lead remained around 20. Makenna Mummert added four fourth-quarter points and Megan Desmet split a pair at the line late in the game.
Elizabethtown dominated the paint, outscoring Lebanon Valley 42-20 and putting up at least 10 points in the paint in each quarter of the game. Renno added 14 points for the Jays.
The Blue Jays will have a week off before hosting Salisbury in their home opener on Wednesday, November 30, at 7 p.m.
