ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown men's basketball team picked up their first win of the season inside Thompson Gymnasium, Thursday evening against Cabrini with a final score of 81-65.
Elizabethtown held the lead for the entire game against Cabrini as Etown came out to an 8-0 run to start the first half. Through the half the teams traded points as
Jared Archer and
Dylan Rowe brought the score to, 18-11. Cabrini came within three of the Blue Jays, following a fast break Etown was back in front by six after a Rowe jumper. A layup and a free throw from
Jalin Robinson extended Elizabethtown's lead, 31-22. With five minutes remaining in the half the Cavaliers cut Etowns lead, 34-29. At the 3:01 minute mark after a three, Cabrini was within two of the Blue Jays. A layup from Ranco Russo at the 30 second mark kept Etown out in front, 43-37. The Cavaliers added a jumper in the final five seconds before heading into the locker room.
Starting off the second half for Elizabethtown, Rowe sunk two layups. At the 13:25 minute mark,
Jalin Robinson sunk two three's within a minute of one another as Etown led, 55-46. Midway through the half Elizabethtown had pulled away for a 10-point lead as
Austin Finarelli put in a layup. Cabrini tried to close the gap but the Blue Jays held a consistent 10-point lead as
Tyreke Herbert and Rowe contributed layups. A jumper from Russo gave Etown a 13-point lead; their largest of the game. Elizabethtown closed out the half on a 6-0 run with a 16-point lead as Russo, Archer, and Robinson added the final points.
Elizabethtown shot 52.5% from the floor while Cabrini shot 39.4%. The Blue Jays contributed 24 points from the bench and 17 points off turnovers. Rowe led the game with 19 points and eight rebounds as he went 8-12 in field goals. Russo totaled 17 points with 7-9 from the floor and grabbing five rebounds. From the bench Finarelli and Robinson added 11 points a piece.
Elizabethtown travels to King's (Pa.) on Saturday, November 19th at 1 PM.
