MALVERN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team did not allow a shot to Immaculata over the final 45 minutes of Wednesday's non-conference game. Down a goal at the half, the Blue Jays scored twice in the second to take home a 2-1 victory for their third straight win.
Immaculata (5-4-2) scored on their first shot of the game in the first half as a ball snuck through the box and toward the end line. From a tough angle, Josh Phillips converted the chance to put the hosts ahead by a goal in the 25th minute.
Pedro Guizardi leveled the match in the 56th minute with his third of the season.
Cade Brubaker lobbed in a free kick from the left side that went toward the back post. The ball took a bounce off a defender's head, and in the attempt to clear, the ball fell to Guizardi about eight yards out. His one-touch effort snuck in at the near post to make it 1-1 for Elizabethtown (5-4-2).
Then, after Etown drew a foul in the box,
Mehluko Letsoalo converted from the penalty spot for his first goal of the season. That put the Jays ahead in the 66th minute and that's where they stayed as Higgins was not bothered in the second half. The senior did not need to make a save in the game to get the win.
Elizabethtown will jump back into conference play, but remain on the road at Scranton on Saturday, October 8, at 1 p.m.
