Georgianna Kahley both hit over .400 as the Elizabethtown College women's volleyball team rolled St. Mary's in straight sets Wednesday night in Thompson Gymnasium.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 2-1 while the Seahawks fall to 2-2.
Kahley finished the evening hitting a career-best .429 with a career-high 13 kills and nine digs. Miller finished with 12 kills and a .455 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Kambrie Hepler tallied 14 digs and junior
Sarah Hanks registered 19 assists.
Etown raced out to a 14-4 lead capped off by an ace and kill from Kahley and a kill from junior
Gianna Krinock. The Blue Jays road this hot start to a 25-10 opening set win, hitting .394 as a team.
It was more of the same in the second set, as Etown raced out to a 18-8 advantage. Miller had a hot hand in the second, tallying five kills over this stretch.
The Blue Jays wrapped up a 2-0 lead with a 25-11 victory in the second, hitting .308 as a team with 15 kills.
The third set started out as a battle. Down four (10-6), the Seawhaks rattled off two quick points to close within two at 10-8. This short sport however woke up Etown, closing out the match with a 13-4 run for its second win of the season.
The Blue Jays head back out on the road this weekend for the Ford Invitational hosted by Haverford. Etown will open the weekend on Friday, September 10 against Cabrini. Opening serve is set for 5 p.m.
