ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Looking to extend their winning streak to three games, the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team came up short Wednesday night at Ira R. Herr Field. A pair of goals in the first half were all that York (Pa.) needed en route to a 2-0 shutout of the Blue Jays.
Ashlynn Weger put York (4-3) ahead in the 11th minute on their first shot attempt of the game.
Aleaha Bigelow attempted to equalized in the 23rd minute, but Cat McCarty made the stop to keep the Spartans ahead 1-0.Â
YCP made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute on Makayla Harper's third of the season to double the advantage going into halftime.
Elizabethtown (2-4-1) had a handful of opportunities on target in the second half, but four of McCarty's five saves in the game came in the second 45 minute period.
Trinity Soto made all six of her saves in the second half for the Blue Jays.
The women's soccer team will open Landmark Conference play on Saturday, September 25, at Goucher.
