Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Blue Jay Score Two in the Second Half for Fourth Win of the Season

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Elizabethtown College men's soccer team tallied two second half goals to top Arcadia, 2-0, in non-conference action.

With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Knights fall to 2-5.

Sophomore Jake Groh tallied his first collegiate goal and assist in the win. Junior Ryan Hepler scored his second goal in as many games and third of the season and sophomore Mike Williams registered his first collegiate assist.

After a scoreless opening stanza, Etown wasted little time in the second half getting on the board. After a quick restart at midfield, Williams found space down the left side. The sophomore whipped in a cross to the penalty spot where Groh buried a header to the near post for the one goal advantage in the 52nd minute.

The Blue Jays then put the game away late with less than a minute to go in the half as sophomore Andy Raab battled through a hard tackle to find Hepler for the 2-on-1 break with Groh. A quick combination play put the ball on Hepler's foot for the one-timer into the back of the net, giving Etown the 2-0 win.

Junior Ethan Higgins (2-0) secured his second consecutive clean sheet, making four saves. Senior Jake Varrato (2-5) made four saves in the losing effort.

Elizabethtown remains on the road next week as they travel to archrival Messiah on Wednesday, September 22 for the Marshmallow Bowl. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
