GAME ONE: ELIZABETHTOWN 13 SCRANTON 7

Holding a one run lead after three innings, the Blue Jays opened things up in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded and one out, senior Andrew Fisher reached on an error by the second basemen, plating junior James Vito.

After a sacrifice fly by Thompson, Watson put an exclamation point on the inning, smashing a triple to right-center field, plating Fisher and freshman Justin Wetzel, making the score 5-0.

The Blue Jays added eight more runs over the final five innings, taking game one 13-7.

Senior Tyler Dunbar (4-0) earned the win for Etown, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out four.

Sophomore Hunter Ralston (2-4) allowed five runs, one earned, on five hits in 3 2/3 innings, striking out three.

GAME TWO: SCRANTON 4 ELIZABETHTOWN 0

Falling behind 2-0 after one, the Blue Jays threatened for the first time in the game in the top of the fourth. After a lead-off double by Watson, Etown went on to load the bases with one out. The Royals, however, shut down the rally, inducing a double play to get out of the jam.

Scranton added another run in the sixth before the Blue Jays mounted a second rally in the eighth. With runners on second and third and two outs, the Royals answered the call yet again, striking out the final batter of the inning to keep the three run advantage.

The Royals tacked on one final run, taking game two 4-0 and forcing a winner-take-all game three on Sunday.

Sophomore Nicholas Ortega (1-3) started for Etown, pitching four innings and allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three. Classmate Zach Silfies three the final eight, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out three.

Sophomore Daniel Johnson (5-0) took the win for the Royals, striking out six while allowing three hits in seven innings of work.

The two teams return to the diamond tomorrow, May 23 to determine the Landmark Conference automatic qualifier. Opening pitch is set for 11 a.m.
