SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna held the Elizabethtown College softball team to three hits over two games as the River Hawks won a pair over the Blue Jays at Sassafras Field. Susquehanna took game one 7-0 and game two 11-0 in six innings.
Game 1: Susquehanna 7, Elizabethtown 0
A two-out, two-RBI double by Susquehanna (4-2, 4-2 Landmark) got them ahead in the bottom of the first, 2-0.
Tori Caputo held the River Hawks scoreless over the next two innings, but the River Hawks struck again for another pair of runs in the fourth to go ahead 4-0.Â
Gabby Bubba held the Blue Jays to one hit over seven innings, with
Brinley Schmidt the only one able to solve Bubba in the circle.
Susquehanna tacked on three more runs late and won 7-0.
Game 2: Susquehanna 11, Elizabethtown 0 (F/6)
The River Hawks scored at least once in each of the first four innings and led 7-0 through four as the Jays searched to get the offense going.
Brooke Wiarda was able to stymy Elizabethtown much as Bubba did in game one, only giving up a pair of hits over five innings. Katie Murphy pitched the sixth.
Grace Hussey and
Amelia Lark each had hits for the Blue Jays in game two.
A homerun by Kiara Bryant in the bottom of the sixth ended the game in favor of Susquehanna.
Elizabethtown will host Susquehanna on Tuesday, April 6, at The Nest for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
