Scrafano Shines in Blue Jays' Fourth Straight Win

MADISON, N.J. – Graduate student Mike Scrafano tallied a career-high in points as the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team topped Drew, 12-5, Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 5-1 over all and in league play, while the Rangers fall to 0-4 on the yea and in the Landmark.

Scrafano scored five goals and added two assists to reach his individual milestone. His seven points also ties him for tenth most points in a single game in program history. Junior Nick cost added two goal and two assists for four points of his own while sophomore Colin Cummings also netted a career-high in points (3) behind a goal and two assists.

Drew was led by sophomore Craig Wilkie who tallied a team-high two goals. Freshmen Michael Phillips (1 G, 1 A) and Connor Fair (2 A) registered two points of their own.

Elizabethtown took control of the game from the jump, outscoring the Rangers 5-1 in the opening quarter. Scrafano led the opening-stanza change, recording a hat trick in the opening 15 minutes.

The Blue Jays continued their dominant run with three more goal before halftime, making the score at the break, 8-1, in favor of Etown.

The second half was a draw between the two squads (4-4), but the Blue Jays early barrage carried them to their fifth win of the season, 12-5.

Graduate student Tom Mahoney (5-1) made five saves on just 22 shots face for his fifth win of the season. Mahoney continues to lead the conference in goals-against average (6.12) and save percentage (.667). Entering today's game he was ranked third in save percentage and 10th in goals-against average in Division III.

Senior Michael McGenney made 17 saves on 45 shots faced for Drew. McGenney has shone this season against Etown, combining for 37 saves in the two meetings.
