Blue Jays Fly Past Eagles, 6-3

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Elizabethtown College women's tennis team secured its second win of the season, topping Juniata, 6-3, in Landmark Conference action Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Eagles fall to 1-4.

Junior Kailey Caroland and graduate student Lenea Riehl continued to lead from the top for Etown, winning at #1 and #2 singles, and at #1 doubles. Caroland dispatched of senior Emily Dowler at #1, 6-3, 6-0, followed by a victory at #2 by Riehl over junior Jamie Mahigel, 6-0, 6-0.

The duo then remained undefeated at #1 doubles on the season, taking down Mahigel and senior Emma Kramer, 8-1.

Freshmen Olivia Richards and Morgan Bleicher secured their first collegiate victories, starting with Richards who knocked off sophomore Emily Sarro, 6-3, 6-0, at #4 singles. Bleicher had to fight for her first win in an Etown uniform, taking down Kramer in three sets at #5 singles, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.

Sophomore Katie Hollen wrapped up the scoring for Blue Jays, downing freshman Marilyn Ogof at #6 singles, 6-0, 6-4.
