Blue Jays Top Pacers for Fifth Win of the Season

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Senior Jalin Robinson finished with 24 or more points for the third consecutive game, as the Elizabethtown College men's basketball team beat Marywood, 78-69, Monday night in non-conference action.

WIth the win, the Blue Jays improve to 5-4 overall, while the Pacers fall to 5-5 on the season.

Robinson registered 24 points, shooting 9-16 from the floor and 4-7 from three. The senior is third in the Landmark, averaging 17.6 points this year. Sophomore Niko Georgelis came off the bench to score a career-high 13 points and freshman Alon Gorham added 10 point. Fifth year senior Ryan Fitzpatrick was was one rebound short of a double-double, tallying 11 points and nine rebounds.

Junior Jason Holman dropped a game-high 29 points for Marywood.

After a slow start by both teams, Elizabethtown stepped up offensively, scoring 16 of the first 20 points of the game. Robinson found Georgelis for the layup to cap off the early run and give the Blue Jays a 16-6 advantage with 12:51 remaining in the first half.

The Pacers responded with seven straight points to close with three (16-13) after a jumper by freshman Caleb Vigil with just over 11 minutes left on the clock.

Elizabethtown rallied with another run, pushing its advantage to 29-17 after a 13-4 run. Georgelis once again completed the run, as sophomore Jared Archer found him for the layup with 6:55 remaining in the opening period.

Marywood made it a one possession game with under two minutes to play before the intermission, but the Blue Jays stretched its lead back to seven (33-26) heading into the locker room.

Out of the break, Elizabethtown continued to control the game, pushing its lead to 11 (43-32) after Robinson turned a steal into a fastbreak layup with 14:11 left in the game.

The Pacers continued to rally, creeping back into the game with a 12-2 run to make the score 46-44 with just under 10 minutes left in the game after a layup by senior Adam Bousatta. 

That would be the final spurt for the visitors, as the Blue Jays stretched its lead to as many as 13 points to close out its fifth win of the season, 78-69.

Elizabethtown made 28-52 (3.8.%) overall and shot 58.8% (10-17) from three. Marywood finished 38.5% (25-65) from the field and made 8-22 (36.4%) from beyond the arc. The Blue Jays found its advantage on the break and from its bench, outscoring the Pacers 22-12 and 31-18 respectively. 

Elizabethtown is back in action on Thursday, December 30 against McDaniel. Opening tip is set for 6 p.m.
