SCRANTON, Pa. -- For the first time since 2004, the Elizabethtown College field hockey team will not make it past the final Saturday of the regular season. Though already decided prior to Saturday's game at Scranton, the Blue Jays concluded the 2021 campaign with a 6-1 loss against the Royals.
Katie Redding scored twice for Scranton (15-1, 6-1 Landmark) in the first quarter to give the Royals a 2-0 lead going into the second.
Sydney Aguilar recorded her fourth of the season in the second quarter, 6:32 in on
Emily Garvin's pass to the near post and the junior finished off the play to halve the deficit to 2-1.Â
The one-goal deficit quickly turned into three within the final minutes before the half. Elle Collins and Redding scored 38 seconds apart with less than three minutes before the break to boost Scranton ahead 4-1 by halftime.
The Royals added a pair of goals over the final 30 minutes, one in the third and one in the fourth.Â
Angelina played the first half and made one save while
Rachel Murphy played the final 30 minutes, making two saves for the Blue Jays.
