Blue Jays Secure Second Consecutive 20-Win Season with Win against Chargers

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team secured its second consecutive 20-win season, sweeping Lancaster Bible in non-conference action Tuesday night.

With the win, the Blue Jays move to 20-6 on the season. This is the first back-to-back 20-win seasons for the program since they did it in 2009 and then again in 2010.

Sophomore Kambrie Hepler tallied 14 digs, giving her 483 on the season to move her into a tie with Stacey Wasserman '08 for 10th all-time in program history in a single season. Senior Shelly Yohe finished with 10 kills and eight digs, while sophomore Gianna Krinock matched Hepler with 14 digs. Sophomore Katie Scaggs hit .667 with seven kills and one block assist.

Down 19-17 late in the first set, Etown ratlled off four consecutive points to take a 21-19 lead. Junior Courtney Westman recorded a solo block and a block assist on the final two points of the run.

The two teams continued to battle, bringing the score to 25-25. After a service error by the Chargers, the Blue Jays finished off the set as Yohe found junior Sarah Hanks for the kill and the 27-25 win in the opening stanza.

Etown ran away with things in the second set, cruising out to a 11-1 lead early in the frame. 

The Blue Jays pushed its lead to 11 after an ace by Savannah Lesley made the score 18-6.

Lancaster Bible closed within nine (24-15) late in the frame by Krinock hammered home the final point for the 25-15 victory and the 2-0 lead.

Tied at 12 in the third set, Etown rattled off three straight points capped off by a kill from Yohe to take a 15-12 lead.

Holding a one point lead (18-17), the Blue Jays rattled off the final seven points of the set to complete the sweep with the 25-17 win.

Elizabethtown is right back to it tomorrow night as they travel to Madison, N.J. for a Landmark Conference match against Drew. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m.
