Manning Named Landmark Baseball Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. - Continuing his success on and off the field, senior Derek Manning was named the 2020 Landmark Conference Baseball Senior Scholar Athlete, announced by the organization Friday morning.

Manning becomes the third player in program history to earn Senior Scholar Athlete accolades and the second in as many seasons. Anthony Knight took home the honor in 2019 while Kristopher Davis was selected in 2015. Manning is Elizabethtown's second winner this year, joining Lydia Lawson of women's basketball.

An East Petersburg, Pa. native, Manning continues to add to his list of academic awards. He is the only two-time CoSIDA First Team Academic All-American in school history and is currently on the ballot to earn First Team honors for the third time in his career. Manning is a three-time Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll selection as well.

Manning completes an outstanding career on the field as well, collecting ABCA Third Team All-America accolades in 2018 while being named Landmark Conference Player of the Year in the same season. He is a two-time All-Region selection from both the ABCA and D3Baseball.com and a First Team All-Landmark honoree.

An offensive juggernaut, Manning finishes his run with the Blue Jays with a .430 batting average and 169 hits. He also tallied 99 RBI and runs scored, 54 doubles and 13 home runs.

Manning will graduate this spring with a degree in Computer Science and has accepted a full-scholarship into the University of Wisconsin Computer Science PHD program.
