CLERMONT, Fla. -- Ashley Mistichelli hit her first home run of the season on Friday and the Elizabethtown College softball team salvaged a split after beating Northland in the second game of the day. The Blue Jays were shut out by Misericordia in game one.
Game 1: Misericordia 7, Elizabethtown 0
Misericordia's (7-1) starter Alexa McHugh shut down the Blue Jays at the plate, only allowing three hits over seven innings as the Cougars went on to win 7-0.

Paige Phillips, and
Brinley Schmidt each had a hit in the game for Elizabethtown (4-6).
Game 2: Elizabethtown 9, Northland 5
Northland (2-12) put up a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead.
With one swing of the bat, the Jays were back even at 2-2 thanks to Mistichelli's first of the spring. Her ball sailed over the left fence for a two-run shot, scoring Phillips on the play.
Brinley Schmidt drove in a run with a double to left field as
Courtney Fitzsimons scored from first. Witmer hit a sac fly to left,
Grace Hussey scored on a throwing error as
Lindsey Fasolo was safe as first on an errant throw.
Amelia Lark capped off the six-run second for E-town with an RBI double down the left field line.
The Lumberjills got a run back in the third on an RBI triple to make it 6-3.
Maddie Hamilton singled in a run in the fifth as a pinch hitter. Mistichelli added her third RBI of the game in the sixth on a base hit to left center as
Gillian Toomey scored from second. Schmidt tacked on another run for the Jays, singling to center field and scoring Mistichelli.
A two-RBI single in the sixth brought Northland within four, but
Tori Caputo shut the door in the seventh to finish off her complete game for the 9-5 win, her third of the season.
Schmidt, who hit from the leadoff spot, had four hits in five plate appearances. Phillips added three hits while Lark, Mistichelli, and Fitzsimons all had multi-hit efforts. Caputo struck out two in her seven innings of work.
Elizabethtown will play its final two games of the spring break trip tomorrow. The Blue Jays start with Carnegie Mellon at 9 a.m. followed by Dominican (Ill.) at 11:15 a.m. before heading home.
