ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Elizabethtown College men's basketball team closed out the home portion of its schedule with a 73-67 win over Juniata in Landmark Conference action Wednesday night.
With the win the Blue Jays improve to 12-11 overall and 5-8 in the league, while the Eagles fall to 6-18 on the season and 3-10 in the Landmark. It is the most wins in a single season for the program since the 2010-11 squad won 16.
Senior
Ethan DuBois scored a career-high 29 points, shooting 9-13 from the floor and 4-5 from beyond the arc. Senior
Connor Moffatt tallied his seventh double-double of the season, finishing with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman
Wyatt Hockenberry registered 10 points and senior Bryce Green was right behind him with nine.
Juniata had four different players in double figure, led by junior Cameron Keck with 15 points. Sophomore John Kelly recorded a double-double, scoring 10 points and recording 12 boards.
It was a slow start to the game for both teams as the score was tied at 12 with 12:13 remaining in the first half.
The Blue Jays took off from here, going on a 9-0 run, capped off by a layup from Moffatt with just under 9:30 on the clock.
Elizabethtown pushed its advantage to as many as 10 towards the end of the period before junior Nate DaCanal banged a three at the buzzer for the Eagles, making the halftime score 38-31.
At the start of the second the visitors continues to chip away at the Blue Jays lead, closing within after a layup by junior Marcus Hall with 15:48 remaining in the game.
Elizabethtown took the momentum back and increased its lead back to double-digits at 11 (57-46) after Moffatt found Greene for the layup with under seven to play.
The Blue Jays continued to control the game, going up by 12 (69-57) and held off a final surge by Juniata to win their 12
th game of the season (73-67).
Elizabethtown shot 54.3% (25-46) from the field and 53.3% (8-15) from three. The Eagles made 26-58 (44.8%) overall and knocked down 6-20 (30%) from deep.
The Blue Jays close out the 2019-20 season this Saturday, Feb. 22, on the road against Moravian. Opening tip is set for 2 p.m.
