ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Elizabethtown wrestling team dropped its first dual of 2020, falling to Scanton, 32-13, on the road Tuesday night.
With the loss, the Blue Jays fall to 0-2 on the season, while the Royals improve to 12-5.
Junior
Austin Jones battled hard to start the evening at 125, forcing overtime against Matt Murawski, but could not complete the opening match victory as Murawski slipped past him 6-5.
Freshman
Zach Rupp brought the momentum back to the Blue Jays, pinning Michael Garcia in 2:40, pushing E-Town ahead, 6-3.
After Anthony Clarizio earned a major decision (9-0) over junior
Harry Marr at 141 to bring Scranton back to the lead at 7-5, senior
Josh Paisley scored a major decision of his own (9-1) over Dante Simeti at 148, giving the advantage back to the Blue Jays, 10-7.
Freshman
Brian Schneider followed up Paisley's win by taking a 8-4 decision from Kyle Shaffer at 157, but that would be the final points of the night for Elizabethtown, as Scranton took the final four matches and locked up its 12
th win of the season, 32-13.
Elizabethtown is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 25 when they welcome Johns Hopkins for the Battle of the Blue Jays and Alumni Night. Opening match is set for 7:30 p.m.
