Blue Jays remain unbeaten at home with 3-0 win over St. Mary's (Md.)

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Marissa Lapinsky scored the first goal of her career as three different players recorded goals for the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team in a 3-0 win over St. Mary's (Md.). The win kept the Blue Jays' unbeaten streak at Ira R. Herr Field this season at five games. Trinity Soto and Christine Fox combined for the second team shutout of the year.

Elizabethtown (4-1-1) dominated much of the game, as evidenced by the disparity in shots over the course of the 90 minutes. E-town ended the game with 29 shots compared to three for St. Mary's (2-5). Goalie Audra Haines was tested in the first 15 minutes and made a pair of saves, but the Jays were out in front in the 17th minute on Leigh Ungerleider's second of the season. Samantha Wanamaker assisted on her classmate's goal for her first point of the year.

Though the shot total piled up, the efficiency on those shots wasn't where Elizabethtown would have liked them as the game went into halftime just 1-0 despite EC outshooting SMC, 13-1.

Lydia Lawson found the back of the net for the seventh time in six games as her goal in the 48th minute put the Blue Jays up 2-0. Janelle Barna provided the assist on the play.

Minutes later, Kristin Wilkinson dropped a corner into the feet of Lapinsky down near the endline on the corner side of the near post. With a defender on her back, the sophomore defender was able to flick a ball back across the six that found its way into the goal for the first of her career. That made it 3-0 in favor of E-town.

The Seahawks' best chance of the game came in the 86th minute as the ball was played up the gut to Megan Tazza, who split the defense and got in on the E-town goal. As the Jays' backs closed in, Tazza rushed a shot that sprayed wide of the frame. Soto made a save in traffic earlier in the half, the only one the freshman needed to make.

Christine Fox came in to play the final 9:57 of the game and did not need to make a save for Elizabethtown as they registered their second clean sheet at Herr Field this season to move to 3-0-1 at home.

The Blue Jays will play at York (Pa.) on Wednesday, September 25, at 4 p.m.
