READING, Pa. – The Elizabethtown men's soccer team earned its second straight victory, taking down Alvernia College 3-0 Wednesday night in non-conference action.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 3-2-1, while the Wolves fall to 1-5-2.
Senior
Cameron Sheva registered a goal and an assist and freshman
Liam Alese recorded his first career assist. Senior
JD Haaf and freshman
Tate Mohney both scored as well.
Elizabethtown wasted little time getting on the board as Mohney took advantage of a defenders mistake in the attacking third, stripping him of the ball, cutting across the front of the box and firing a shot to the bottom left corner in the eighth minute for the early 1-0 lead.
Less than 10 minutes later, Haaf collected his second goal of the game, as Sheva found his classmate with a pass who knocked him home for the 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Blue Jays put the game out of reach in the 70th minute thanks to the combination of Alese and Sheva. Alese set up Sheva who slotted it home, giving Elizabethtown its third victory of the season, 3-0.
Freshman Kevin Del Cid (3-2-1) recorded his first career shutout win, registering seven saves on 17 shots.
Senior Luca Grippi (1-5-2) allowed all three goals for the Wolves, making five saves. Freshman Ben Solsky played the final 9:33, registering two saves.
