ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – In the Battle for the Smith-Herr Boot, Franklin & Marshall topped Elizabethtown 4-1 in non-conference action Wednesday night.

With the loss, the Blue Jays fall to 1-2-1 on the season, while the Diplomats, ranked No. 12 in Division III, improve to 3-1.
Sophomore J.D. Haaf scored the lone goal for Elizabethtown, his second of the year. Junior Alex Lalovic finished with a game-high two goals for Franklin & Marshall.
Holding a two goal lead at the half, the Diplomats pushed their lead four in the first 10 minutes of the second half to shut the door on a second half comeback.
Haaf's goal came in the waning seconds of the game as he found space 30 yards out in the center of the pitch and rifled a shot over the keepers head, making the final score 4-1.
Freshman
Kelvin Del Cid (1-2-1) record a career-high nine saves on 18 shots.
Senior Christopher Amoruso (3-1-0) made two saves, now allowing a goal in the opening 66:10. Freshman Henry Cooke closed out the game in goal for Franklin & Marshall, allowing the lone goal by the Blue Jays.
Elizabethtown hits the road for the first time this season on Saturday, September 14 at Lebanon Valley. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
