GETTYSBURG – Elizabethtown women's volleyball earned a split on day one of the 2019 season, registering a 3-1 victory over Lancaster Bible, before falling to Gettysburg in its final match of the day, 3-0 at the Battlefield Classic Friday evening.

Bryanna Miller registered 25 kills while sophomore
Rileigh Hudock finished the evening with 41 assists.
ELIZABETHTOWN 3, LANCASTER BIBLE 1 (25-23, 25-20, 27-25, 25-16)
- SET ONE: Down one midway through the opening set (12-11), the Blue Jays went on a 5-0 run highlighted by a kill from freshman Courtney Westman and blocks from Hudock and sophomore Elizabeth Zeiber. The Chargers managed to pull ahead once again at 20-18 before Elizabethtown closed out the set, outscoring Lancaster Bible 7-3 for the 1-0 lead.
- SET TWO: Tied at 14, the Blue Jays scored seven of the next eight points for the 21-15 advantage. Miller had two kills and an ace over this stretch. The Chargers closed within two (22-20), but that is as close as they would get as Elizabethtown took home the second set, 25-20.
- SET THREE: Climbing out of a five point deficit (17-12), the Blue Jays battled all the way back to tie match at 25 on a block by Miller and sophomore Allison Fischer. Lancaster Bible, however, recorded the final two points of the set for the 27-25 victory and cut Elizabethtown's lead to one (2-1).
- SET FOUR: The Blue Jays wrapped up their opening match in the fourth set in a big way, breaking open a one point lead (14-13) with a 7-0 run for the 21-13 advantage. Senior Elle Shatto and sophomore Shelly Yohe each had kills over this stretch. The Chargers managed only three more points in the set, as Elizabethtown cruised to a 3-1 victory with a 25-16 win in the fourth set.
GETTYSBURG 3, ELIZABETHTOWN 0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-17)
- SET ONE: The Bullets cruised through the opening set, running out to a five point lead (9-4), forcing a Blue Jays timeout. Gettysburg came out of the timeout to score 10 of the next 12 points, pushing its lead to 19-6 on their way to the 25-10 first set win.
- SET TWO: Down four early in the second set, Elizabethtown used a kill by Shatto and two kills by Fischer to close within one (11-12). The Bullets however pulled away once again, outscoring the Blue Jays 13-4, taking set two 25-15.
- SET THREE: Tied at nine, Gettysburg began to slowly stretch its lead, scoring two straight points for the 11-9 lead. Elizabethtown moved within two after a timeout, thanks to two more kills by Fischer, cutting the Bullets lead to two (17-15). Gettysburg, however, closed out the final match of the day in straight sets with an 8-2 run for the 25-17 victory.
