KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Junior Ethan Dubois and the Elizabethtown men's basketball team were recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) as the organization announced both its Team Academic Excellence Award and Honors Court this past week.
An Environmental Science major, Dubois completed his junior year with a 3.2 cumulative GPA. He is a two-time Landmark Winter Academic Honor Roll member while tying for the team lead in steals (39) and finished fifth on the team in scoring (8.7 ppg) this past year. Dubois becomes the first player to earn a spot on the NABC Honors Court since Mike Church, Josh Houseal and Mark Vogel each received the award in 2010.
For the first time in program history, the men's basketball team earned a NABC Team Academic Award, recording a cumulative team GPA of 3.03. Leading the way on the court and in the classroom and joining DuBois on the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll this past season was sophomore
Brody Baker, senior
Matt Thomas and sophomore
Tyler Rinehimer.
Each spring, the National Association of Basketball Coaches recognizes men's collegiate basketball programs which excelled in academics during the previous season with the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award. The NABC celebrates the overall academic success of these outstanding programs.
In order to receive the Team Academic Excellence Award, a program must achieve a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the previous season.
Each institution must count the grade point averages of all men's student-athletes competing during the previous season in all NCAA Divisions, all NAIA Divisions and all two-year colleges with a full-time NABC member coach.
