Google Cloud NCAA Division III Academic All-America Team
AUSTIN, Texas -- Elizabethtown College junior
Derek Manning made program history on Tuesday after the announcement of the Google Cloud NCAA Division III Academic All-America Team. He landed a spot on the First Team for the second straight season.
No player in team history has ever been a two-time First Team Academic All-America selection until Manning. The East Petersburg, Pa. native had been the first Blue Jay in 23 years to appear on the First Team and the third overall. He joins Gary Yeager, Jr. as the only two-time Academic All-America for E-town.
In recent weeks, Manning has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team and was a D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings Division III All-Region honoree.
According to the official announcement, nine of the 33 members of the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America have a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA, including Manning. The 11 members of the first team have an average cumulative grade point average of 3.97 and the 33 student-athletes that make up all three teams have an average GPA of 3.84. Six are repeat selections from 2018. Manning is one of those having been on the First Team a season ago.
