Anthony Knight Landmark Baseball Senior Scholar Athlete 052019

Knight named the Landmark Baseball Senior Scholar Athlete

TOWSON, Md. -- Anthony Knight became the second player from the Elizabethtown College baseball team to be named the Landmark Baseball Senior Scholar Athlete. He joins Kristopher Davis (2015) as the only players for the Blue Jays to receive the conference's academic honor. He is the third student-athlete from Elizabethtown to garner the Landmark honor during the 2018-19 academic year.

Knight enjoyed another successful season for E-town. A 2019 team captain, the senior started 36 games for the Jays and hit over .300 for the second consecutive season and tied a career-high with 10 doubles and drove in 17 RBIs, a new career-high. He was named the All-Landmark Second Team Catcher, his second straight all-conference honor.

The Lancaster, Pa. native is a three-year starter, first under previous coach Cliff Smith, and the past two seasons under head coach Adam Sheibley. While Knight was an important piece to Elizabethtown's success in recent years, he was also getting it done in the classroom. Already a Google Cloud Academic All-District 4 First Team honoree, Knight was Elizabethtown's 2019 Male Distinguished Student-Athlete Award winner.

A three-year selection to the Landmark Spring Academic Honor Roll, Knight is also a Dean's List student and boasts a 3.95 cumulative grade point average as a business administration major.

The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics.

The honorees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, faculty athletic representatives, senior woman administrators, and sports information directors.
