MADISON, N.J. -- A sweep on Monday at the Drew Softball Complex helped keep the Elizabethtown College softball team's playoff hopes alive as the Blue Jays pulled into a tie for fourth at 5-5 in the conference.
Amelia Lark had a season-high three hits in game one and
Sarah Hartinger got the win in extra innings for E-town in game two as the Jays extended their winning streak over the Rangers to five straight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Elizabethtown 6, Drew 5
- Down 3-0 after two innings, Elizabethtown (16-18, 5-5 Landmark) tied the game in the third.

Emma Varrato doubled in
Kady Johnson and
Lindsey Fasolo hit a two-run home run to left to make it 3-3.
- Drew (12-24, 1-9 Landmark) retook the lead in the bottom half of the inning.

Brinley Schmidt scored on a wild pitch in the fourth to tie the game for a second time.

Amelia Lark knocked in a run with a base hit to right center to score
Amber Sergas.
- Fasolo drove in her third run of the game in the fourth to extend E-town's lead to 6-4.
- The Rangers scored once in the sixth, but Sergas didn't allow another run as she threw another complete game to win her eighth game of the season.
- Lark had a season-high three hits. Varrato, Fasolo, and Schmidt each had two hits.
- Sergas struck out six batters over seven innings.
Game 2: Elizabethtown 6, Drew 4 (F/8 innings)
- Drew took the lead in the third after two scoreless innings to start the second game. The Rangers led 1-0 through five innings.
- Elizabethtown took a 3-1 lead in the sixth after Varrato's RBI double down the left field line. The senior then scored on a wild pitch.
Kaitlyn Witmer drove in the third run of the inning with an RBI double to left.
- The Rangers scored twice in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game, 3-3.
- In the top of the eighth, the Blue Jays added three runs to their total to take a 6-3 lead.
- Varrato, who started on second base, scored on an error to give the Jays the lead.
Paige Phillips drew a bases loaded walk to make it 5-3. Hartinger doubled E-town's lead with an RBI ground out as
Ashley Mistichelli scored on the play.
- Drew scored once in their half of the inning, but Hartinger got the win with a pop up out to end it. She moved to 2-0 on the season.
- Fasolo and
Alyssa Wilkinson both had two hits in the game. Wilkinson had four strikeouts in 5.1 innings of a no decision.
UP NEXT
Elizabethtown needs to sweep Scranton on Saturday, April 27, to earn a berth into the Landmark Conference Tournament. First, the Blue Jays will play at Albright on Wednesday, April 24.
