Blue Jays' bats do the work in sweep at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College softball team had the bats working just fine at West End Field for Saturday's Landmark Conference doubleheader at Juniata. The Blue Jays combined for 31 hits in the two games and won game one in extras, 9-4, and ended game two early 17-4 in five innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Elizabethtown 9, Juniata 4 (F/8)

- Ashley Mistichelli had one of her season-high three hits in the third to score two runs, Lindsey Fasolo and Sarah Personette.
- Juniata (10-18, 1-7 Landmark) jumped in front 3-2 with three runs in the bottom half of the third.
- Mistichelli then tied the game in the fifth for Elizabethtown (13-17, 3-5 Landmark).
- After neither team scored in the sixth or seventh, the game with to an eighth frame.
- Emma Varrato gave the Blue Jays a 4-3 lead with an RBI single.
- Personette and Mistichelli added run-scoring doubles in the inning as E-town's lead grew to 9-3.
- Thought the Eagles got a run in the eighth, Amber Sergas closed the game out with the final three outs for her sixth win.
- Mistichelli had a game and season-high five RBIs in the game-one win.

Game 2: Elizabethtown 17, Juniata 4 (F/5)
- Varrato kicked off game two with a two-run double to left center. She was one of four players with multi-RBI efforts for the Blue Jays in game two.
- After a five-run first inning, Elizabethtown added two in the second courtesy of Personette's RBI double to left and Fasolo's RBI double to right.
- Juniata got a run back in the third to make it 7-1.
- Taylor Herman hit a sac fly RBI in the third to plate Kaitlyn Witmer and make it 8-1.
- Fasolo brought home two more runs in the fourth and Witmer hit her first career home run, a two-run shot to left, as the Jays scored multiple runs for the third time in four innings and led 12-4 after four.
- Varrato hit her team-leading fourth homer of the season in the fifth.
- Witmer and Herman added RBIs in the fifth as well. Herman doubled to clear the bases.
- Herman, Fasolo, and Witmer each had four RBIs while Varrato added three.
- Alyssa Wilkinson got the win for Elizabethtown. She struck out four.
