BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Mike Scrafano tied a season-high to help pace the Elizabethtown College men's lacrosse team in a pivotal conference road contest at Moravian Wednesday night. The Blue Jays never trailed and held off the Greyhounds for the Landmark win, 13-11.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Elizabethtown (6-6, 2-1 Landmark) led 2-0 in the first quarter on goals from Scrafano and
Ben Hiltebeitel.
- Moravian (7-5, 1-3 Landmark) came back to tie it with two goals of their own.
-
Alex Filbert gave E-town the lead back with 37 seconds left in the opening quarter, his seventh of the year, on an assist from Hiltebeitel.
- The Blue Jays scored the first four goals of the second quarter thanks to Scrafano (2), Hiltebeitel, and
Andrew Watts (UP). Scrafano had a first-half hat trick and Hiltebeitel amassed three first-half points (2g, 1a).
- Ahead 7-2 after
Griffin Liebsch found Scrafano for his third of the half, the Greyhounds produced twice in the final 1:00 to bring themselves within 7-4 at the half.
- Elizabethtown kept feeding the hot hand as Scrafano continued to give MOR fits, scoring twice to start the third quarter.
Mike DiGenova had the assist on the opening goal of the third.
-
Cody Richter scored unassisted, his first of three in the third quarter, to get the score to 10-4.
-
Benjamin O'Connor answered a Moravian goal with a man-up tally from Scrafano with 3:19 to go in the third. Richter would add his second and third goals to make it 13-5 heading into the fourth.
- The eight-goal cushion was tested over the final 15 minutes as the Greyhounds were able to hold the Blue Jays scoreless, but the deficit was a bit too much to overcome. MOR scored six in the fourth, but not enough as E-town held on, 13-11.
-
Tom Mahoney had 10 saves in goal for E-town.
