ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College men's tennis team made up its postponed match from the fall with York (Pa.) on Tuesday at the Alumni Courts. The Spartans handed the Blue Jays a 7-2 loss.
York (Pa.) (6-3) won No. 1 doubles 8-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the non-conference matchup. YCP also took third doubles 8-4.
Nick Strobel and
Evan Winters were in a battle at No. 2 doubles, but ultimately, the Spartans could come away with the point to make it 3-0 after an 8-7 (7-3) win.
YCP continued to roll in singles play, winning at No. 1 and 2 singles. Strobel beat Josiah Forry 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. It was 6-1 in favor of York (Pa.) as No. 3 singles ended.
Alec Schneider gave Elizabethtown (1-2) its second point of the match at No. 6 singles to conclude Tuesday's match. Schneider won 5-7, 6-3, 10-3 over Michael Spagnoli.
Elizabethtown is on the road at Moravian on Saturday, March 23, to open Landmark Conference play. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
