READING, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's tennis team picked up where it left off in the fall Monday afternoon at Alvernia. The Blue Jays won each of the three doubles matches plus all six singles to beat the Golden Wolves 9-0.
Elizabethtown (3-0), 9-0 winners over Lycoming and Penn State Harrisburg in September, were off and running in doubles as
Meghan Chemidlin and
Amber Burd made quick work of Alvernia's second doubles. Chemidlin and Burd won 8-2.
Laura Gribble and
Madelyn Binder won handily at No. 3 doubles, 8-3, as they finished shortly after to put E-town ahead 2-0 in the non-conference match. The duo of
Lenea Riehl and
Kailey Caroland took No. 1 doubles, 8-6, and the Jays were up 3-0 going into singles.
Sarah Donner won at No. 6 singles 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 over Elizabeth Donovich to give Elizabethtown a 4-0 edge. Burd was 2-0 on the day with a win at No. 4 singles and Riehl did the same 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1.
Chemidlin, Caroland, and Gribble followed suit and completed the shut out for the Blue Jays.
Elizabethtown opens Landmark Conference play on Saturday, March 23, at Moravian. The match begins at 12 p.m.
