ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Senior
Bryce Greene scored his 1,000
th career point, as the Elizabethtown men's basketball team knocked down a number of clutch baskets down the stretch to top visiting John Jay, 82-76, Monday afternoon in non-conference action.
With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 4-4 overall while the Bloodhounds fall to 7-3 on the season.
Greene's layup with 16:04 remaining in the first half gave the senior 1,001 for his career, making him the 33
rd player in program history to reach the milestone. The senior finished with 14 points and four assists. Senior
Connor Moffatt scored a game-high 22 points and recorded a double-double with 16 rebounds. Joining the two seniors in double figures was freshman

John Jay was led by senior Jason Bower, scoring a team-high 23 points. Classmate Doug Levy finished the night with a double-double, dropping 12 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Junior Romello Ford dished out a game-high seven assists.
The game started off as a back-and-forth affair, with the two teams trading the lead six times in the opening seven minutes. The Blue Jays grabbed the lead for good with 13:01 on the clock as Moffatt banged a jumper in the paint, making the score 12-11.
Elizabethtown managed to find some breathing room, using an 11-0 run to stretch a two point lead into 13 point advantage (26-13) after a basket by Greene with just under 7:30 remaining in the opening stanza. The Blue Jays continued to hold a double digit advantage, taking a 40-29 lead into the locker room at halftime.
After Elizabethtown pushed its lead to as many as 17, the Bloodhounds began to creep back into the game, closing within seven after a jumper in the paint by Levy in the paint made the score 61-54 with 8:48 remaining.
John Jay closed the gap to four points with just over a minute remaining in the game and looked as if they got a stop on the defensive end, but Rinehimer grabbed a clutch offensive board and laid it back into beat the shot clock and give the Blue Jays a six point cushion (77-71) with 37 seconds on the clock.
Elizabethtown went 5-6 from the stripe to close out the game, locking up their fourth win of the season, 82-76.
Blue Jays shot well from the floor, making 31-54 (57.4%) while shooting 27.3% (3-11) from three. Elizabethtown was dominant inside, outscoring John Jay 52-26 in the paint. The Bloodhounds were 40.6% (26-64) from the field and knocked down 9-25 (36%) from three.
Elizabethtown is back in action on Friday, Jan. 3, for the opening day of the Spooky Nook Tournament, hosted by the Blue Jays. Opening tip against Penn State Harrisburg is set for 6 p.m.
