BALTIMORE, Md. – The Elizabethtown men's basketball team dipped into Division I play, falling to Loyola, 72-45, in a midseason exhibition Saturday afternoon.
With it being an exhibition, today's game does not count towards the Blue Jays season total.
Senior
Bryce Greene finished the afternoon with 13 points. Greene sits at 997 career points and will look to become the 33rd player in program history to score 1,000 points in Elizabethtown's next game later this month. Senior
Connor Moffatt had a team-high six rebounds, while classmate
Ethan DuBois dished out four assists.
The Greyhounds were led by senior Andrew Kostecka who registered a game-high 19 points and eight rebounds.
Loyola jumped out to an early 11-2 lead after a three from junior Isaiah Hart forced an Elizabethtown timeout with 15:45 remaining in the first.
The Blue Jays began to chip away at the Greyhounds' lead, closing within four (13-9) after freshman
Wyatt Hockenberry banged a trey from the right side with just over 10 minutes left before the end of the half.
Loyola however slowly pieced together a 19-4 run to go ahead 32-13, before sophomore
Avery Morton hit a three from the left corner with 37 second on the clock for the final basket of the half, making the halftime score 32-16.
The Greyhounds took control of the game in the second half, pushing its lead to as many as 29, and topping Elizabethtown 72-45.
The Blue Jays shot 30.4% (17-56) from the floor and made 4-15 (26.7%) from three. The Greyhounds knocked down 27-67 (40.3%) overall and shot 24.1% (11-18) from three.
Elizabethtown returns to action on Monday, Dec. 30, when they host John Jay in non-conference action. Opening tip is set for 3 p.m.
