WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Elizabethtown men's basketball team dropped its first game of the season, falling to King's, 87-68, in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, the Blue Jays fall to 2-1 on the season, while the Monarchs improve to 4-2 overall.
Senior Bryce Green scored a game-high 13 points, while freshman
Avery Morton added 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Freshman
Dylan Rowe (12) and sophomore
Anthony Hawkins (10) came off the bench to combine for 22 points.
Junior Brad Kalinowski led King's, dishing out 10 assists to go along with eight points and six rebounds.
Elizabethtown jumped out to a five point lead with just under 15 minutes remaining in the first half after freshman
Wyatt Hockenberry knocked down two free throws, making the score 11-6.
With the two teams trading the lead through the rest of the opening period, the Monarchs took the momentum into the intermission, ending the half on a 6-0 run, for the 35-29 lead heading into the second.
King's continued its push at the start final stanza, pushing its advantage to 15 after a three pointer by sophomore JJ Glinsky on the break made the score 49-34 with 15:56 remaining in the game.
The Monarchs pushed its lead to as many as 25 in the second half, winning its fourth game of the season, 87-68.
Elizabethtown made 10-27 (37.04%) from the field, while knocking down 20% (2-10) from three. King's scored 12-30 (40%) from the field and was 35.29% (6-17) from deep.
The Blue Jays are back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 26, on the road against Lebanon Valley. Opening tip is set for 8 p.m.
