ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Trinity Soto made three saves and
Lydia Lawson did what she does best for the Elizabethtown College women's soccer team on a rainy Wednesday night at Ira R. Herr Field. The Blue Jays picked up a valuable three points in the Landmark Conference postseason race as Lawson's second-half goal was the only one E-town would need in a 1-0 win over the Greyhounds. Lawson's goal tied her for the Landmark's career record.

Elizabethtown (10-4-1, 5-1-0 Landmark) tested Jamie Daly several times over the first 19 minutes as the Moravian (6-7-1, 1-4-1 Landmark) goalie needed to make three saves on
Leigh Ungerleider,
Samantha Wanamaker, and
Natalie Nye. Soto, in turn, made two of her three saves in the first half, including one that seemed destined for the top netting, but the freshman plucked it from the air to keep it out.
The rain got heavier as the game went along, and it only took one opportunity for the Blue Jays to record the only goal of the game.
Janelle Barna played in Ungerleider down the right side near the box. Her cross was met by
Alli Lasky in the box near the penalty spot. It took a bounce off the junior and into the path of Lawson, who struck it far post, beating Daly, for her 19th goal of the season to tie the Landmark Conference career goals record of 59 (Lindsay Aleman - Catholic).
Still, with over 19 minutes to go in the game, the Greyhounds pressed for the game-tying goal. Elizabethtown maintained its structure in the back as Soto was off her line a few times to collect the ball on crosses. The Blue Jays did not allow a shot over the final 24:06 and were able to run the clock out in their attacking third.
The women's soccer team moves into a first-place tie with Susquehanna and Catholic, and will face the Cardinals on Saturday, November 2, at 4 p.m. in the regular season finale.
