Lawson Breaks Landmark Points Record in Victory Over Gophers

TOWSON, Md. – Senior Lydia Lawson broke the Landmark Conference career points record, leading the Elizabethtown women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Goucher on the road Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 9-4-1 on the season and 4-1-0 in league play. The Gophers fall to 5-12-0 overall and 1-5-0 in the Landmark.

With two goals in the game, Lawson now has 128 career points, passing Lindsay Aleman (2013-16) of Catholic for first place in the conference. She is one goal away from tying Aleman for most career goals in the Landmark and the senior reached a new season-best with 18. Earlier this season, Lawson became the fifth player to eclipse 100 points in program history and now sits in third place in program history.

Scoring the other goal for Elizabethtown was sophomore Erika Antunes, her first of the season, while senior Natlaie Nye, freshman Brinley Beveridge and senior Kristin Wilkinson all tallied assists.

The Blue Jays found the first goal of the game in the 28th minute, as Nye found Lawson with a pass who fired it home, giving Elizabethtown the 1-0 advantage.

Antunes sent the Blue jays into halftime with a 2-0 lead in the 40th minute, teaming up with Beveridge for the second goal of the game.

Lawson completed her fifth multi-goal game of the season in the in the 79th minute, combining with Wilkinson for the final goal of the game, securing the 3-0 victory for Elizabethtown.

Freshman Trinity Soto (9-4-1) started in goal, making three saves. Junior Christine Fox completed the shutout in goal for Elizabethtown, making one save.

Junior Christina Charikofsky (5-12-0) made nine saves and allowed three goals in the lost.

Elizabethtown returns home one Wednesday, Oct. 30, to take on Moravian in Landmark Conference action. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
