TOWSON, Md. – The Elizabethtown men's soccer team played its fourth overtime game of the season, tying Goucher, 2-2, Saturday afternoon in Landmark Conference action.
With the tie, the Blue Jays record now sits at 10-4-2 on the season and 4-1-1 in league play. The Gophers move to 3-11-2 overall and 1-3-2 in the Landmark.
Senior
JD Haaf and sophomore
Garrett Winchilla each scored for Elizabethtown. Haaf is now second in the conference in goals (11) and tied for second in points (25), while Winchilla is tied for sixth in goals (eight) and seventh in points (17). Sophomore
Mehluko Letsoalo recorded Elizabethtown's lone assist.
Freshman Yaya Diabagate and senior Brandon Cohen scored for Goucher, while sophomore Drew List and freshman Jack Topper tallied assists for the home team.
The Gophers took an early 1-0 lead, as List and Topper combined to find Diabagate who scored his third goal of the season in the ninth minute.
The Blue Jays responded in the 20th minute when Haaf fired home an unassisted goal, to knot the score at one.
Winchilla pushed Elizabethtown in front for the first time in the game, as Letsoalo managed to find the sophomore with a pass for his eighth goal in the last six games, giving the Blue Jays the 2-1 halftime lead.
Goucher brought the game back to level in the 73
rd minute, taking advantage of a penalty kick as Cohen buried what proved to be the game tying goal.
Neither team was able to find the game winner through two overtime periods, playing to a 2-2 tie.
Freshman
Kelvin Del Cid (10-4-2) made two saves on 13 shots, allowing two goals.
Freshman Joe May (2-5-2) registered 10 saves on 28 shots, allowing two goals.
Elizabethtown takes a week off before its final game of the season on Saturday, Nov. 2, at home against Catholic. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
