WESTMINSTER, Md. -- The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team and McDaniel battled each other and the elements on Tuesday in non-conference action. The Green Terror scored twice in the second half and held E-town off the score sheet for a 2-0 win.
The field conditions made it tricky for the goalkeepers in handling the ball, but
Trinity Soto made several nice plays without letting any McDaniel (12-4) attackers pounce on loose balls around goal. Soto made a point-blank save early in the game off the boot of Hannah Schepers in the fourth minute.
Shot attempts were low, 5-3, in favor of the Green Terror during the first half.
Schepers was able to get her head on a cross in the 59th minute as she sent the ball far post and the ball skimmed across the grass and into the back of the net to give McDaniel a 1-0 lead.
Schepers doubled the lead in the 67th minute with her second of the game. The Green Terror didn't allow a shot on goal after their second goal and preserved the shutout.
Soto had a game-high four saves for the Blue Jays.
The women's soccer team is on the road Saturday, October 26, at Goucher for a 4 p.m. Landmark contest.
