Penn State Harrisburg doubles up men's tennis

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Elizabethtown men's tennis could not overcome a 3-0 hole after doubles, dropping its fall opener, 6-3, to Penn State Harrisburg on Sunday afternoon.

All three doubles matches were tight, but the Nittany Lions (1-1) won each by 8-6 scores.

The Blue Jays (0-1) finally got on the board with a dominant third-set performance by junior Tyler Spinello at first singles. Spinello rallied from a 6-4 loss in his first set against Isaac George to post 6-4 and 6-0 wins in the second and third.

Freshman Evan Winters registered a victory in his first collegiate singles match, holding off Jared Gluck 6-4, 2-6, 10-6 at No. 4. Michael Ryzuk also earned his first career singles win, 7-5, 6-2, against Anthony Brominski at No. 6.

Elizabethtown returns to action next weekend with a pair of matches. The Jays are on the road at Albright, Saturday, and conclude the fall season at home against York (Pa.) on Sunday.
