BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Elizabethtown couldn't protect a 2-1 lead following doubles play as it fell to Moravian, 5-3, indoors at Lehigh University's Lewis Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the defeat, the Blue Jays will be part of the four-team Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Championship field for the fourth time in as many seasons. Elizabethtown, the No. 4 seed, will face top-seeded Scranton in one of two semifinals on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

E-town (7-6, 4-3 Landmark) did its best to try and force a three-way tie for second in the conference regular season standings --though it would have needed a 9-0, 8-1 or 7-2 victory to move out of the fourth seed via the league's tiebreaking scenarios.

The Greyhounds won the first point at third doubles, 8-3, but Elizabethtown came back with 8-5 victories in the remaining matches.

The No. 1 team of Lenea Riehl and Meghan Chemidlin downed Moravian's Emma Angle and Kate Rennar, with Amber Burd and Laura Gribble defeating Brooke Adams and Kristen Cassidy at No. 2.

Moravian reclaimed the lead and put the Jays on the brink of defeat with three straight wins to open singles. Emma Angle was a straight set winner at flight one, as were Adams and Mary Angle at flights three and four, respectively. Burd almost swung third singles in E-town's favor, but fell by similar 7-5 scores in both sets.

Chemidlin answered back for the Blue and Gray, moving to within five singles wins of 50 for her career 6-4, 6-4 over Cassidy at No. 2.

Gribble forced a third set against Lauren Steinert at No. 5 with a 6-4 win in the second, but the Greyhound sophomore got off to a quick start in the third and clinched the match for her team 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.

Moravian (11-2, 6-1) wrapped up the second seed in the conference tournament and hosts third-seeded Catholic in the other semifinal on Tuesday.

The match decided, the two teams ended play with sixth singles unfinished. It was a close match as well, with E-town's Kaitlyn O'Connor and Moravian's Kate Rennar having split the first two sets and tied 3-3 in the third.
