Regionally-ranked Goucher tops men's tennis

TOWSON, Md. -- Elizabethtown was unable to keep pace with regionally-ranked Goucher on Saturday afternoon, dropping its Landmark Conference road match, 9-0.

The Gophers, ranked 19th in the ITA Atlantic South Region, swept doubles and claimed straight set victories in all six singles flights to win their 19th match of the season.

Tristan Boheim and Nick Strobel had the best showing for the Blue and Gray (2-11, 1-5 Landmark) in doubles, but were defeated 8-5 by Goucher's Josiah Meekins and Elliot Diehl at No. 2.

Ryan Caris claimed a pair of games in each set of his No. 1 singles loss to regionally-ranked No. 23 Tetsuya Ota, while Alec Schneider forced extra games in the opening set of a 7-5, 6-2 setback to Daniel Kim at No. 6. Strobel won four games in the first set against Meekins at No. 4, but dropped the match 6-4, 6-1.

The Blue Jays travel to our nation's capital on Sunday to wrap up Landmark play with a match against Catholic at noon.
